The Body and Blood of Christ: The Mass Readings Explained Excerpt

by Brant Pitre June 13, 2017 0 Comments

In this video taken from the series, The Mass Readings Explained, Dr. Brant Pitre emphasizes the realism of Jesus' words in John 6 of his flesh being true food and his blood being true drink. With the background of the Manna in the desert to clarify his meaning, Jesus says that just as his fellow Jews' ancestors had to eat the manna in the desert in during the exodus to reach the earthly promised land (though they would eventually die), to reach the heavenly promised land and never die, we, too, must eat the heavenly manna, which is his flesh.
