The Mass Readings Explained Series Subscription Policy

By subscribing to The Mass Readings Explained, each week's video, audio mp3, transcript, and study guide will be available via logging in to your account (if you do not have an account, you can create one when acquiring your subscription, or contact us if you have any questions).

Please note that this is a subscription model, not an ownership model.  The distinction is probably best seen by comparing it to other subscription models that we are all aware of such as a Netflix or Gym subscription/membership.

The subscription, for example, gives one access to Netflix videos and/or Gym equipment, not ownership of them.  Just as it would be an act of theft and violation of the subscription terms to record Netflix videos and/or take equipment from a Gym simply because one has a membership, the same applies here precisely because this is a subscription and not an ownership model.

By subscribing, you can watch, listen, and read for the duration of your subscription any video, audio, pdf, etc. that we post (as many times as you like). However, all content (video, audio, pdf's, etc.) is under copyright, such that at the end of the term of the subscription (which expires when the subscription ceases to be current), said content can no longer be used or be in the possession of any person or entity other than Catholic Productions.

Having said that, we do permit you to download and/or print out the copyrighted pdf's if you wish (which is more lenient than most subscription models), but it must come with the understanding that at the expiration of a membership/subscription those files (audio, video, or transcript and study guide, etc.) -- should they have been downloaded and/or printed -- are not to be in one's possession, just as the same would apply in the Netflix or Gym scenario above.

By signing up, as with most subscription models, the interval for which you sign up is non-refundable, as you will have access for that period of time and have access to the entire subscription's available content library from the moment the subscription is active.

FAQ:
Can I watch/listen with a group of people who gather together for a Bible study in person?
Absolutely!  The only requirement is that the person who actually has the subscription license be present to login to his/her account to give access to the video, et. al. The login credentials, for example, could not be handed out to someone who does not hold the subscription license, nor can access be given for some indefinite or extended period of time on a device for constant access by those who are not subscribed without the license-owner being present.

Moreover, while we temporarily permitted Zoom chats (and other such similar platforms) to play The Mass Readings Explained videos during the 2020-2021 pandemic so that groups of people who were (a) local to each other (i.e., living in the same city and/or go to the same Church parish) and (b) who otherwise would have met in person to watch, that provisional permission is no longer extended.  It directly circumvents the very purpose of having one's own login credentials, and is a violation of the terms of service.  We simply cannot support the ongoing cost of this service if this action is perpetuated, as it was always intended to be a local and temporary accommodation, a time which has now passed.

• By subscribing, can my immediate family access my account?
Yes.  Family members living in the same household (e.g., wife, husband, children still living at home, etc.) can access the account without violating the subscription policy (again, in this instance, similar to Netflix).
