Have you ever wondered: How did we get the Bible? Where does the Bible come from? And why are there different Bibles? In this primer for anyone interested in Bible study, Dr. Pitre takes you through a three-part study of the origins of the Old and New Testaments. Particular focus is given to the history of how the canon, the official list of books in the Bible, came to be, and the central role the Catholic Church played in the formation of the canon. Dr. Pitre also explores the reliability and authorship of the Gospels, and whether or not we can have confidence that the canon of Scripture is reliable. This fascinating series will answer questions such as:

The Origin of the Bible

Dr. Brant Pitre did an outstanding explaining "The Origin of the Bible". Because Christians base their lives on the Bible, it must accurately proclaim God's Word. Emphasizing how it came about and by whose authority it is put together is absolutely necessary. The only thing I would like more information on is why Luther and others broke away. Dr. Pitre touched upon it in a response to a question but I wanted a deeper explanation of what the Church was doing at the time to anger dissenters. What are the lessens learned by Church leader and is it still going on? Were there abuses in Church doctrine? What was done to correct any abuses that may have taken place. I'm thinking abuses in the area of indulgences. Thank you, Boyd

Have often wondered about the bible because of the different ages and styles of the boopk.. Have even heartd some atheirsts use it agasinmst the truth of the bible. This explanation and opening up of the bible origins, on the contrary, made me feel more secure personally and in an apologetic paradigm

What a wonderful series!

A fantastic 3part series on the origin of the Bible Canon! Dr. Pitre’s presentation is well thought out and sourced. He answers many questions that I had and I was able to properly defend the Holy Church’s teachings about the origins of Scripture!
